I'm joining pals Sarah and Elizabeth to write every day in the month of December, feel free to join in any time! Today's prompt: What was the best meal you had in 2015? Why? Did you make it or did someone make it for you?

FOOOOOD. One of my favorite things everrrrrrrrr.

I don't like to label food good and bad, that makes certain foods the enemy. Which just makes me want to eat them more. There are foods that are nutritious and provide the body great benefit, and I try to focus a lot of my energy on that. Then, there are foods that are empty and cause some nasty side effects, and I still eat them, but in a measured way.

Except when you order one of something and a platter comes bearing NINE of such somethings. Behold. The fish n chips platter from Bobby's Fresh Fish Market in Tauranga, New Zealand:

See that huge smile on G's face? We were super excited about consuming the freshest most perfectly fried fish in history, but we were both laughing hysterically over the absurd amount that was given to two small girls with American accents asking for ketchup when all there is is tomato sauce in a can.

We made a pretty hefty dent in that fish n chips platter. And wrapped the rest in newspaper and had it for breakfast the next day. And lunch. And then begrudgingly threw the last soggy piece away.

Instead of feeling like ass afterwards, we felt amazing, and went on to hike 7 miles on Mt. Maunganui. There was something absolutely magical about that fish. We only ate fish n chips one time on our trip to New Zealand, even though it was readily available everywhere, because we were afraid another experience that was sub-par would tarnish our memories of how amazing it was at Bobby's. I guess you could call us Bobby's Fresh Fish Market Purists.

*We're simple gals. There is no foie gras worshiping happening in this house. My general rule of thumb is if you have to pay cash for it, it's probably pretty effing delicious.
