KayShay Code // Rule #9 // Good enough is the new Perfect

This is an easy one for me, personally. My attitude towards tasks in general is focused 95% on efficiency. Which leaves little room, or time, for perfection. I prioritize efficiency over almost every other aspect of living. And, in studying my habits and personality type, I've come to learn that I value time over money and effort.

Do I care if there are dust bunnies running across my hardwoods? Yes. Does my home need to be a vacuum sealed sanitarium? Ummm no.

Do I want to eat healthy and maintain a reasonable weight? Yes. Does my diet need to be 100% free of all sugar, dairy, gluten, soy, and caffeine? Ummm no.

Do I want to make a good impression at work and be valued in my role? Yes. Do I need to micromanage my employees, be in the office 24/7, and deliver 110% at all times? Ummm no.

The beauty of these scenarios is that the thing that you can do efficiently is actually achievable and sustainable, while the thing you cannot possibly achieve ever (or, at least for not that long) is all you have to let go. Easy? Sometimes not. But it's a worthwhile pursuit.

Maximize quality while minimizing effort. That's the number one rule in getting shit done. Waiting until it's the perfect time, or until you feel you can achieve perfection means that it will never happen at all. It means you are allowing perfect to be the enemy of your goals. Essentially, your need to achieve your goals perfectly is preventing them from happening at all. It's just so ironic!

Good enough. It's music to my ears. They're my favorite two words to be placed together in a complete sentence.
