Sunny Surprises. Most of North America starts to get frosty and cold this time of year. If you had an unusually warm (tank tops and flip flops warm!) day unexpectedly and didn’t have to work, what would you do?

There's no time like the wintertime to appreciate sunshine and reasonable temperatures. I don't think I lose this appreciation at any time during the year, because heat and humidity are also not my friends, but I especially don't love the blistering cold sting of winter.

We had one of those way above average temp days in November, and the first thing I wanted to do was pull on my hiking boots and get outside. My brother was visiting and we, along with G and some friends, went hiking in Great Falls. The Billy Goat trial is our local gem, featuring the Potomac river, some fairly advanced rock scrambles, and lots of great places to stop and enjoy the sights and fresh air.

I can think of two other times that I experienced a shockingly warm day in the middle of January and February in the past few years, and on both occasions, I did exactly this. You know where to find me!
