It's officially Valentine's week! I used to be a Valentine's Day hater. Hater of all things romantic and mooshy gooshy ewwy gewwy love stuff. It was my defense mechanism against vulnerability. That's not the case for everyone - some people just don't speak a love language that is copacetic with all that Valentine's day tries to elevate. And, some people object to the celebration of love on one specific day, like it's the only day that matters, and the other 364 can be chucked. Obviously, that is a perspective thing.

I wrote my Valentine's Day post on Saying I Love You last year. It's one of my rules in The KayShay Code, and one of the ones I find to be the most important and the easiest to do. I used to hate Valentine's day and I used to hate saying I Love You. Sadness overload. These days, it has become so important to me that my friends, family, and wife know that I love them and I say it and show it as much as possible. I want them to know not only that they are loved, but that they are worthy of love.

Do you know that you are worthy of love?

Everyone is, there are no exceptions. Even those you know who are bad people. Yes, they are worthy of love. In fact, the reason that many people turn to bad deeds and unkindness is because they don't feel that they are worthy of love and they don't feel loved. The idea that you are loved unconditionally liberates you into being a better person, to spread the contentedness of your heart to others that they might act with more kindness and compassion. It's an elevating cycle.

If you don't feel worthy of love, then take responsibility. No one is required to love you. Not even your parents, I have personally found. When you are able to love yourself and act authentically in your life, you will find yourself surrounded by people who choose you. And those are the best people to be loved by - the ones who support and help you reflect your absolute total honest self.

How others act is not a reflection on whether they find you worthy of their love, it's how you know if they are worthy of yours.

Love more you. And then love more them too. XO
