My favorite meal is: SNACK

Who doesn't love to snack?? In fact, we love snacking so much that whenever someone mentions the word diet, the first thing you think is... gee, I shouldn't snack so much. Like that should be the first thing to go.
I don't necessarily agree with that, your overall intake and the quality of what you eat is so much more important than frequency or timing. Everyone is different, so I wholly reject the suggestion that 6 small meals a day is THE way! Or, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, eat it whether you are hungry or not! Just stop. It works for you, great, you do that. It doesn't work for everyone.
Sometimes, when I force breakfast, it makes me feel sick. So I patiently wait until my body asks for food and I have my shake. Sometimes that is 5 minutes after I'm awake or done with a morning workout, and sometimes that's 11am almost-too-late-because-its-nearly-lunchtime. Whatevs, I let my belly call the shots on that one.
Usually, the case isn't that I'm not hungry so I don't force food. What a great problem to have! Usually, I have 3 main meals planned or prepared for the day, and I look to supplement that with snacking when necessary to make it to the next pit stop. If I feel hungry and try to put it out of my head, I will obsess. Obsessing over food? I don't have time for that.
Saying no to snacks is just sad, anyways. Here are some of my favorites:
+ Mini Guac and Late July Chia Chips. So the mini guac says it's 100 calories. It doesn't excite me so much that the calories are capped but that the baby package allows me to eat fresh, green, unspoiled guac without having to consume an entire whole foods tub within 48 hours which I absolutely have no problem doing. I get them at costco! You know what else I get at costco??
+ Mini Hummus and Baby Carrots. Another savory for when I need a stop gap that will last several hours. Hummus is predominantly a carb, but with fiber and protein to offset it, I don't sweat it.
+ Greek Yogurt and Berries and Granola. When I want something sweet, but don't want to eat an entire butterfinger, the fruit plus some sugar in the granola nips that right in the bud. Lots of protein too! Right now, we have an obsession over pomegranate seeds- so those go in too.
+ Beef jerky. I would honestly pay a huge premium for organic, but there is just no beef jerky that tastes as amazing as the kirkland signature steak strips at Costco. Geez I've been plugging a lot of costco products- I swear I am not getting kickbacks of any kind. Yes yes, I know. It has nitrates. And sugar- the devil! But you know what? It keeps me from eating entire bags of M&Ms. So, I choose my battles.
+ Rotisserie Chicken Wings. You guys... my household consumes so much organic rotisserie chicken from whole foods it's disturbing. While it's still warm from the store, I pull all of the chicken and put it into containers to eat all week for lunch with sweet potatoes or spaghetti squash or salad. And the wings... I eat them. Skin and all. It is so delish.
Rotisserie incidentally is one of Levi's favorites too. Can you tell??

What do YOU love to snack on?
